HTML signature with Mac - This is not the WordPress but ... .

By: Unknown on Wednesday 11 February 2015 | 16:35

This summer, I wrote a post in which I explained how to create an HTML signature for Mail on Mac OS X Lion (10.7) . This post has generated many comments - and I thank you - and many questions about how to create the same signature but on Mountain Lion.

Because the approach is a little different, I therefore propose a new tutorial, this time adapted to the features of Mountain Lion.

1. First, that says HTML signature, said HTML file. So I created a signature ( MacQuébec my signature ) . If you wish to use the file, you can change it to your liking. The HTML file is located at the end of the article. A little trick : instead of adding images to your email signature , it is easier to make the link images directly from your website or website to simplify and lighten your email. Please note that the recipients of your messages will uncheck the Display remote images in HTML messages in Mail preferences can only see those that accompany your signature if you make use of this method.

2. This step is the same as the old tutorial for Mac OS X Lion. What you need to do, you need to change your HTML signatures to match your needs. Once this is done, you can check your work by opening it in Safari.

3. Next, you launch Mail. Open the preferences ( File -> Preferences ) and create a signature for the desired email address. Note: The text of the signature is irrelevant. It will be replaced by your HTML signing shortly.

4. Subsequently , go to your Finder under the Go tab, then Go to Folder .... A window will appear and you will need to enter the following command: ~ / Library / Mail / V2 / Maildata / Signatures /

5. In this folder you will find all the signatures that you have created . The file signature that we just created looks something like this: 18EFF81D - EF11-41C0 - A790-198E3EAD332D.mailsignature . To recognize your signature in this mess , check the date and time at which you created and you are sure to find the right signature to change.

6. Once you have identified the right signature , right-click on the document and open it in a text editor . You must keep the header similar to the following example in the document and delete the rest of the code that appears in the bottom of the document :

Content-Transfer -Encoding: quoted-printable
Content-Type: text / html;
charset = iso-8859-1
Message-Id :
Mime- Version: 1.0 ( Mac OS X Mail 6.0 \ ( 1485 \ ) )

7. You must then paste all the code in your HTML signature instead of lines of code that you just deleted in the document.

8. Once that is done , save the file and make sure it is locked (right click on the saved file, then Get Info ) . See the image below.

9. To ensure that everything works , close and restart Mail.

Now when you send an email to your contacts , you can boast of having a superb signing HTML Made in MacQuébec ! ;)
